Nikolas Rose

Professor Nikolas Rose originally trained as a biologist before switching to psychology and then to sociology. In 1992, he joined Goldsmiths College, where he was Head of Sociology and Pro-Warden for Research. Ten years later, he joined the London School of Economics as a Martin White Professor of Sociology. He was also Head of the Department of Sociology (2002-2006) and the founder and Director of the Centre for the Study of Bioscience, Biomedicine, Biotechnology and Society (BioS). He joined King's in January 2012 to establish the new Department of Social Science, Health & Medicine, now the Department of Global Health & Social Medicine, and was Head of Department from 2012 to 2018. He is Co-Director of the King's Centre for Society and Mental Health.
