TREAT-NMD is internationally recognised for its central role in addressing key challenges in the development of therapies for neuromuscular diseases. Through connecting the global neuromuscular community, sharing essential knowledge and resources, and supporting innovation, the network has contributed significantly to progress in diagnosis, care and treatment development across a range of inherited neuromuscular conditions.
The 8th TREAT-NMD International Conference will take place from 10 to 12 February 2026 in Lisbon, Portugal. The meeting will focus on translational medicine in inherited neuromuscular diseases and will be held as an in-person event, bringing together a wide range of stakeholders from across the field.
TREAT-NMD 2026 aims to provide a forum where patients, clinicians, researchers, industry representatives and regulators can work collectively on some of the most pressing issues facing neuromuscular research and care. Planned discussions will address disrupted clinical trial delivery, regulatory uncertainty, global inequalities in access to treatments and the impact of shrinking public funding. These themes will be explored through a holistic, solutions-driven approach, with a strong emphasis on patient-centred and globally relevant outcomes.

The conference is expected to attract around 300 delegates, including academics, patients and carers, patient advocacy organisations, clinical specialists and industry professionals. The programme is designed to encourage open discussion and practical problem solving, supporting the development of real-world solutions that can shape the future of rare neuromuscular disease care.
For industry participants, the meeting will offer opportunities to network with partners on shared challenges, engage with panels of international experts, and receive updates on standards of care, outcome measures, patient registries and emerging developments. These will include discussions on clinical trial site capacity and other factors influencing therapeutic development.
The organisers have invited the global neuromuscular community to participate in what they describe as a unique event, aimed at fostering collaboration and supporting continued progress in the field. The conference will be held at the Altis Grand Hotel in Lisbon.
