Event Notes:
Overview
The Annual MS MDT conference is an educational meeting designed for healthcare professionals involved in the treatment, management, and support of people living with multiple sclerosis (MS).
This full-day programme brings together expert speakers from across neurology, urology, psychology, and specialist nursing to explore current challenges, emerging evidence, and practical approaches to MS care.
The meeting will cover a wide range of key topics, including updates to diagnostic criteria and their implications for MS services, cognitive dysfunction, assessing patient capacity, and the management of common complications such as urinary tract infections and spasticity.
With a mix of expert-led presentations, discussion sessions, and networking opportunities, the meeting aims to support shared learning, encourage multidisciplinary collaboration, and enhance clinical practice across services.
Aims & objectives
1. Develop a shared understanding of current developments in MS care
Participants will increase their collective awareness of updated diagnostic criteria, emerging research, and clinical issues relevant to Multiple Sclerosis, supporting a unified knowledge base across the multidisciplinary team.
2. Strengthen skills in assessing and supporting people with MS
Participants will enhance their ability to recognise and assess key clinical challenges in symptoms management and understand how different MDT roles contribute to effective assessment and management.
3. Promote integrated, person‑centred practice across the MS care pathway
Participants will explore ways to collaborate effectively, integrate new knowledge into practice, and deliver holistic, patient‑focused care by coordinating expertise across NHS, HSCP and third sector services.
