Event Notes:
Behavioural Treatment for Tics is used as the treatment for children and adults with tics and Tourette Syndrome (TS).
Event Overview:
We acknowledge that there is a shortage of therapists trained to deliver this treatment for people with tics and TS, and so in order to address this, the Tourette Service at Great Ormond Street Hospital has put together a 2 day package of training for clinicians across the country.
Attendees of this training course will learn the clinical skills needed to deliver Behavioural Treatment for Tics and will have access to important materials to facilitate treatment. Clinicians will also have access to three online group consultation/supervision sessions to be completed within 6 months of the training.
- A 2-day training course for professionals from disciplines such as Psychology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Speech and language therapy, Pediatrics, Psychiatry and Neurology.
- The training will be most helpful for those with training and experience of delivering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and behavioural therapy with children.
- The course will include awareness and training using gold standard assessment measures and theoretical and practical training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Habit Reversal Training (HRT).
- The course contains excellent training videos, demonstrations with children with tics, materials to use post-training and a certificate of attendance.
- Included in the training is the opportunity for three online group consultation sessions where clinicians can bring cases for discussion and reflect on ways to further improve the delivery of treatment. The consultation will need to be completed within 6 months of the training.
