FENS-Hertie Winter School 2026-2027: Cancer Neuroscience

Venue: Alicante, Spain

Website: www.fens.org

Event Notes:

Cancer neuroscience is rapidly emerging as a field at the intersection of neuroscience, cancer biology and immunology. Growing evidence shows that both the central and peripheral nervous systems can influence tumour growth, progression and treatment response, raising new questions about how neural, immune and cancer cells interact.

The FENS–Hertie Winter School on Cancer Neuroscience will bring together PhD students and early postdoctoral researchers with an interdisciplinary faculty spanning neuroscience, cancer biology and immunology. The programme combines lectures, hands-on sessions and interactive discussions covering key concepts, experimental approaches and emerging directions in the field.

Alongside the scientific programme, the Winter School will create time for what can be difficult to find at larger meetings: discussion, reflection and brainstorming. Informal sessions and social activities will give participants the opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss their own research and get to know peers and faculty in a relaxed setting.

The aim is not only to introduce participants to a rapidly developing field, but also to bring together the next generation of researchers who will help shape the future of cancer neuroscience.
