MND Webinar: Tracheostomy Care Latest Research and the Carer Experience

Aim:

To enhance understanding of current evidence and emerging research in tracheostomy for people with MND, while exploring the lived experiences of carers to support evidence based person-centred care.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

• evaluate the strengths and limitations of the available evidence supporting tracheostomy in MND and consider the implications for clinical decision making
• discuss the impact of tracheostomy on patients and informal carers recognising the physical emotional and practical challenges experienced throughout the care journey
• develop strategies for discussing the potential benefits risks and uncertainties of tracheostomy with patients and their families considering also that this is not a routinely offered intervention
