Project Neurology webinar series
Final session: Emergency assessment and treatment of Ischaemic Stroke, with Professor Chris Price, takes place on July 29th at 6.30pm.
This final session completes the 2026 series of Project Neurology webinars – a free, live online teaching programme brought to you by ACNR in collaboration with HLA and Medics.Academy. Leading voices in neurology have guided attendees through practical, case-based sessions designed to sharpen clinical skills and boost confidence in managing neurological conditions.
The programme has been delivered by a diverse faculty of UK and international clinicians, including consultant neurologists, specialist fellows and experts with focused clinical interests. Practical, case‑based and interactive sessions helped learners build confidence in recognising, assessing and managing common neurological presentations.

About the programme
This national programme has been designed for neurology trainees, internal medicine trainees, GP registrars, psychiatry trainees, early‑career doctors and medical students with an interest in neurology. Teaching has been delivered by experienced clinicians and focused on improving clinical reasoning, confidence and competence in common neurological presentations.
Each live session has been interactive, evidence‑based and tailored to both undergraduate and postgraduate learners.

Dr Intishar Rashad
Founder and Course Director of Project Neurology Dr Intishar Rashad is the Founder and Course Director of Project Neurology . He is an Internal Medicine Trainee (IMT) at the East of England with a strong interest in neurology Current page. He has held several leadership and educational roles, including Cohort Director and Mentorship Programme Lead at the Healthcare Leadership Academy, and Programme Representative for the RCPE–University of Edinburgh MSc in Internal Medicine programme . He is currently an Academic Tutor at Medics.Academy, has previously tutored for Duke University’s US Human Physiology course, and is undertaking postgraduate training in medical education.
Professor Simon Rinaldi
Professor of Neurology, University of Oxford Dr Rinaldi is a clinician scientist and neurologist leading the University of Oxford’s inflammatory neuropathy research programme . His research spans disease modelling, biomarker discovery, clinical phenotyping and clinical trials Current page. His lab has developed human iPSC‑derived myelinating co‑culture models to study immune‑mediated nerve injury . The group runs the UK’s only diagnostic testing service for nodal and paranodal antibodies, linked to autoimmune nodopathies Current page. He contributes to major clinical datasets including IGOS and has been involved in trials in GBS, CIDP and MMN.
Dr Biba Stanton
Consultant Neurologist, King’s College Hospital — Lead in Functional Neurological Disorder Dr Stanton is the clinical lead for neurology at King’s College Hospital, running the Functional Neurological Disorders service and working with the Maudsley neuropsychiatry team . She focuses on improving care pathways for people with FND and complex somatic symptoms . She is also the honorary secretary of the Association of British Neurologists.
Dr Priya Jacob
Specialty Registrar & NMO Fellow, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford Dr Jacob works with Professor Jacqueline Palace’s team for the National Diagnostic and Advisory Service for Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO) . Her work focuses on diagnosis and management of AQP4‑IgG NMOSD and MOGAD, including relapse care, immunotherapy and long‑term follow‑up . Her key interest is neuroimaging in neuroinflammatory disease, especially MRI patterns in NMOSD and their evolution over time . She contributes to specialist clinics, outreach services and multidisciplinary discussions, and teaches on complex neuroinflammatory presentations.
Dr Amy Ross‑Russell
Consultant Neurologist, Wessex Dr Ross‑Russell is a recognised educator with a special interest in CNS infections, acute neurology, neurology education and equality in the field . She integrates infectious disease expertise into neurology practice and has held multiple roles within the ABN and national neurology committees.
Dr Louise Rusk
GP with Specialist Interest in Headache, Ulster Hospital Neurology Department Dr Rusk is a GP with a specialist interest in headache and also works in general practice in Belfast . She trained in general medicine and neurology before moving into general practice, developing a specialist interest in headache management . She is active in primary care neurology education and has taught at regional and national courses, including WONCA Europe . She has taught across multiple specialties and served on the BASH Council . She has also held roles with The Migraine Trust and National Migraine Centre.
Dr Hena Ahmad
Consultant Neurologist, St George’s Hospital — Honorary Senior Lecturer Dr Ahmad specialises in dizziness, balance and eye movement disorders, running a Neurovestibular clinic at St George’s Hospital . She established an acute vertigo pathway in ED and co‑leads the acute TBI rehabilitation service . She is Lead for Undergraduate Clinical Neurosciences at City St George’s and teaches widely on dizziness and acute neurology topics.
Dr Neil Ramsay
Consultant Neurologist, NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde — Movement Disorders Specialist Dr Ramsay is a Consultant Neurologist with involvement in clinical trials in Parkinson’s disease at the University of Dundee . He trained in Glasgow, Dundee, Aberdeen and the Shetland Isles, developing interests in movement disorders, botulinum toxin for dystonia and FND.
Dr Kathleen White
Consultant Neurologist, NHS Tayside — Treasurer, Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh Dr White is a Consultant Neurologist and Honorary Senior Clinical Teacher at the University of Dundee . Her interests include epilepsy and FND, and she has held multiple leadership roles including Equality & Diversity Champion and Commercial Research Champion for NHS Tayside.
Dr Rhian Raftopoulos
Consultant Neurologist, King’s College Hospital — MS Specialist Dr Raftopoulos trained in Manchester, Switzerland, Bristol and London, and completed a PhD at UCL on neuroprotection in optic neuritis . She is education lead for neurology at the Princess Royal University Hospital and serves on the ABN services committee Current page. She is PI for multiple research projects, including the PIN‑POINT MS Study using AI for personalised MS treatment decisions.
Dr David Blacker
Former Consultant Neurologist & Medical Director, Perron Institute — Board Member, Parkinson’s Australia Dr Blacker trained in Australia and the Mayo Clinic, specialising in cerebrovascular disease and acute stroke care . He led major developments in Western Australia’s acute stroke services and conducted extensive clinical research, including neuroprotective peptide trials Current page. Diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2018, he now focuses on advocacy, education and research in PD, including exercise‑based interventions like FIGHT‑PD . He is honorary medical director and board member of Parkinson’s Western Australia and Parkinson’s Australia, and author of My FIGHT with PD.
Professor Christopher Price
Professor in Stroke & Applied Health Research, Newcastle University Prof Price is Professor in Stroke and Applied Health Research and an honorary NHS Stroke Physician . He is NIHR National Specialty Lead for Stroke and collaborates widely across emergency care, diagnostics and stroke services Current page. His work includes evaluating portable diagnostic technologies and influencing national policy and EMS training recommendations.

The Healthcare Leadership Academy (HLA)
The Healthcare Leadership Academy formed in response to demand from young clinicians and medical students to learn about leadership. Founded by Dr Johann Malawana (Course Director), former leader of the Junior Doctor Dispute, and a team of like‑minded professionals (Faculty and Assistant Course Directors) the Healthcare Leadership Academy launched on 20th December 2016. HLA houses a faculty from across the health sector and beyond. Their shared aim is to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals and develop their understanding of leadership.
