How is ACNR Funded?

ACNR has been Diamond Open Access since its launch in 2001. We do not charge fees to either authors or readers. Publisher Rachael Hansford was driven by her brother’s brain injuries to produce an accessible journal for neurological specialists, with content that is community-driven.

Funding to support our open access model comes via advertising from pharmaceutical and other companies, societies and charities, and which appears in each issue and online. Advertising is clearly identifiable, and any sponsored editorial is clearly highlighted.

Review articles are subject to fair and rigorous peer review by at least two peer reviewers, and are completely independent of any advertising or sponsorship. Decisions about content are made by the editorial board and editorial manager, who are not involved in generating advertising revenue or sponsorship. Advertising is managed by the Publisher and an independent advertisement sales person.

We want to encourage multidisciplinary collaboration, and make it fast and easy for authors to comply with OA mandates.

All reviews are published using the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC-BY). Our goal is to maximise the reach of ACNR’s content, allowing it to be easily read and cited for greatest impact.
