Julia Granerod

PhD

Julia Granerod is an Epidemiologist at the Health Protection Agency. Julia obtained her first degree in Medical Microbiology (Hons) at the University of Edinburgh and subsequently went on to complete a Masters in Clinical Tropical Microbiology at University College London. She has spent time in both Thailand and Tanzania working on infectious disease epidemiology. For the last seven years Julia's work has focused on encephalitis. She completed a PhD on the incidence and causes of encephalitis in England at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She was the lead scientist and national coordinator of a multicentre prospective study of encephalitis in England and has received a further grant to continue with various encephalitis projects. She has published numerous peer reviewed papers and is a Member of the Professional Advisory Panel for the Encephalitis Society.
