The Oxford Online Programme in Sleep Medicine (MSc/PGDip) is open for applications (October 2016 intake)
Aims of the course:
- To deliver a comprehensive education in a broad range of topics, from the physiology of sleep through to clinical practice in sleep disorders and public policy implications.
- To provide teaching in a flexible way, to fit around professional demands.
- To provide health-care professionals with the knowledge to apply sleep medicine within the guidelines of their own practice and qualifications.
- To develop understanding and engagement with sleep medicine at an international level.
The programme, MSc/PGDip is a part-time course, spread over two years. During that time eight modules will be delivered, providing a comprehensive overview of sleep medicine that is in line with the European Sleep Research Society’s teaching and training guidelines. These modules include:
Module 1: The Physiological Basis of Sleep
Module 2: Introduction to Sleep Medicine and Methodological Approaches
Module 3: Circadian Rhythm Disruption and Sleep
Module 4: Insomnia
Module 5: Sleep-disordered Breathing and Sleep-related Movement Disorders
Module 6: Hypersomnias and Parasomnias
Module 7: Sleep in Specialist Populations
Module 8: Sleep and Society
