Venue: The Diamond Building, 32 Leavygreave Rd, S3 7RD, Sheffield

Website: www.glianetwork.org.uk

Event Notes:

The UK Glia Network has recently been founded by a group of researchers passionate about glia. The overall mission of the network is to create an open and interactive community of scientists who are from or working in the UK and interested in pushing the boundaries of glia research. The goals of this community are to encourage networking and collaboration among glia researchers which potentially will lead to impactful discoveries, attracting competitive funding, and promote the sharing of state-of-the-art tools and technologies used to study glia. We hope to reinforce mobility and training of early career researchers and strengthen the UK glia community.

The meeting will take place on the 9th of September 2024, 8.30am – 5.30pm, in Sheffield. The programme includes a poster session and 3 mini-symposiums: The role of glial cells in neurodegeneration, Glia cells in non-mammalian systems/outside the CNS, and Molecular and functional diversity of glial cells. Keynote speakers include Jeffrey Lliff, Roslyn Bill, Alexei Verkhratsky, Soyon Hong and Clare Howarth
