Hypersomnias and Parasomnias

In this short continuing professional development (CPD) course, you will review the nosological classification, diagnostic criteria, pathophysiology and treatment of hypersomnias and parasomnias.

It is expected that after completion of this module students will be able:

• To understand nosological classifications and definitions of hypersomnias
• To describe the diagnostic criteria, prevalence, morbidity and comorbidities of Narcolepsy and Kleine-Levin Syndrome
• To describe the pathophysiology of Narcolepsy and Kleine-Levin Syndrome
• To gain knowledge of, and appraise the utility of, treatment options for Narcolepsy and Kleine-Levin Syndrome
• To understand nosological classifications and definitions of parasomnias
• To describe the diagnostic criteria, prevalence, morbidity and comorbidities of parasomnias
• To describe the pathophysiology of parasomnias
• To gain knowledge of, and appraise the utility of, treatment options for parasomnias
