Let’s Talk About Cannabis!
Event Notes:
Exploring the challenges and benefits of cannabis use in brain injury rehabilitation; a multidisciplinary approach
Bis Services are proud to present this exciting and innovative conference, where delegates will be taken through a variety of professional approaches to managing cannabis or addictive behaviours, when working with individuals with acquired brain injury in community settings.
The conference is kindly supported by Irwin Mitchell.
Client perspectives on the disparity between their views and the MDT will be highlighted. This will provide clear insight into the personal motivations of these case studies alongside reflections of impact on rehabilitation planning.
A brief history of medicinal cannabis use and current prescription criteria in the UK will be explored with a particular focus on what has worked well and what hasn’t.
We will also examine aspects from psychological perspectives. The application of therapy and psychological approaches such as Compassion Focused Therapy will be discussed, as well as the impact on neuropsychological function in the short and long term.
Financial and litigation considerations will be covered from both a Personal Injury and Court of Protection team perspective, providing insights into the medico-legal challenges that these behaviours impact.
This will align with the challenges faced within statutory provision from the perspective of admission and community discharge planning in specialist residential settings. An MDT approach and required adjustments from a clinical lead perspective will complement the content, providing suggestions for adjustments and accommodations to consider in rehabilitation planning.
